Diesel RC engine

Hey I was watching some of those videos oon youtube and saw some of those v12 model engines that run and work. Do they make a diesel engine like that? I just thought that might be something cool to tinker with. Let me know if anyone knows of anything like that.

Diesel engines were actually quite popular in the rc flying hobby back in the day so to speak. In reality today's modern glow engines are in a manner diesels. The use a glow plug to ignite and once ignited use compression ignition. The "glow" fuel used is a mixture of methanol and oil and sometimes nitro methane depending on the application.

There is a company that specializes in this very field.

It won't run without the conversion head. The standard glow motor doesn't have enough compression to fire the diesel.

sounds like fun. Let us know how it goes. I fly airplanes so I think I'll hold off. They are harder to stop when the engine quits unexpectedly...
