Well, in addition to the 8 inch scratch and dent from a buddy "helping" me hook up a trailer. Does anyone know if the 2008 tailgate w/ step from the 6.4L trucks will fit on the older (2001) models?
Yes the tailgate will fit! I just put a 2008 on my early 1999! Make sure to get the left mount that is attached to the bed or you just remove the two bolts from the right bottom of the tailgate and slide the center piece out of the left mount on the tailgate.

I would watch out for ANY place that says it takes about 30 days for it to ship....after 30 days, E-bay won't/can't go after them if they are a scammer. It happened to me...granted, it was for a magazine subscription ($20), but it's the principal of it. Make sure you keep checking back with them and get a tracking #. If anything throws up a red flag, bail out before you lose any $$$. Just my $.02 from a prior experience.

The important thing to remember is to pay with a credit card through paypal. Paypal gives you 45 days to file a complaint, I've had to do this several times over the last several years and have always gotten my money back. Worst case is paypal can't help you and you have to go through your credit card company, IIRC you have two months to do this. I have had several instances of fraud on my accounts but they have always taken care of me (Citi and CapitalOne).

So if there is even a question but the transaction is still in limbo and it is getting close to the time limit, file a complaint before the time limit is up. This usually serves a dual purpose of covering your butt and giving extra motivation to the opposite party to get the issue taken care of. A lot of people I'm sure know this info but this is for the EBay newbies. The place is relatively safe, just be careful.

Well got the tailgate today. Looks great. No it doesnt have the parts in it but ill just use the ones off the old tailgate. Def a good product. It took awhile to get it but worth the wait. For only $250 cant complain. Ill get pics when its on the truck. Once I get the truck back from the dealer. Which has had it for 8 weeks and hasnt touched it. Dont ever take a truck to Diels ford sales in Grantsville, Md
