Thermostat Replacement

Doing flush and fill on coolant. The new thermostat has a gasket built in to the thermostat (pics on left). The old thermostat I took out did not have the gasket built into the thermostat. Does the separate gasket (pictured at the bottom of the photo) go above or below the new thermostat, or do I even need it at all?

New thermostat is on left.

The gasket on the new one should be the only one you need. Set the tstat in place and see if the gasket sits above the register enough to seal.
