newbe needing help
this is the first diesel i have ever owened or worked on but i am a pretty good gas burner mech.
I had to tow my truck home (400 miles) from work last month after failing to start after workone morning. I have learned alot reading through this site over the last month. The truck is a 1997 f-350 it cranks over but won't hit at all. I.ve got it down to a fuel injector pressure regulator i belive. I've got it out and the plug has 12.5 volts on one side and ground on the other side but it doesn't make any sound at all and i can't see the plunger inside moving. shouldn't this piece make a clicking noise or see the plunger moving opening the holes in the side up for fuel to flow through. the local parts store can order this piece but it is $280 and if i order it and it don't fix the problem i owned it. so far i have changed cps glow plugs glow plug relay 2 new batterys mechancal primary fuel pump checked oil level in hpop it doesn't have any trouble codes i'm pretty sure it is a fuel problem because it will hit on starting fuild but not any on it's own. I've spent enuff on tring things to see if they work and really want to be certain this part is bad before i buy one |
