Customer has been patient but has spent $$$$ with us and has not seen any improvement. Truck is here now need resolution for problem. Please help.

Had this problem on my 02 7.3 superduty. We did replace the cam position sensor on recall and I thought the problem was fixed. However, it did reoccur with engine dying out totally for a while. It did restart and I managed to drive a few blocks to the Ford service center. Problem - moisture getting into the PCM. Solution - new PCM. Truck now works better than ever with increased fuel milage to boot. Not a cheap fix though, but I'm happy if it works. No idea how moisture gets into this thing though, but it's well sealed now - I hope.

Did your truck throw any codes? If PCM was the problem you should have got some error codes. I think, anyone agree?

Here's what may service invoice reads:
EEC test codes P0221 & P1670 showed up. Road test - Truck lacks power. Checked oasis - found SSM for shorted wiring harness. checked harness - all ok. Checked app sensor - ok. Tried starting truck to monitor PIDS - truck will not start. Checked communication wiring - ok. Checked PCM power and ground - ok. Contack engineering - told to replace PCM. Replaced PCM. Truck starts and drives fine now. EEC test - no codes now.
