blowin lots of white smoke

heres the story. i had to make a run out of town for work. about a 700 mile round trip run. just into my trip my service engine light came on. i pulled into a truck stop to check things out. i noticed my coolant resevoir was low so i toped it off. later on the light went off. i came home yesterday with no problems, no lights on the dash, the truck performed fine. this morning i went out side and started my truck to let her warm up a bit. after about 10 min i went out to leave for work and noticed was truck was puffing white smoke. i took it down the street and it started blowing large amounts of white smoke, mosquito truck style. i know white smoke means i'm buring coolant. my question is typically where is the problem? head gasket, something in the turbo? the truck's motor is stock as far as i know and has abot 78K on it. it is in route on a flat bed to the dealer now.

Not coolant, timing, low fuel pressure, low compression. Most likely it is just a IPR or HPOP. Could be a injector.

head gasket. if the truck runs good, and idles smooth but blows white smoke. its a head gasket. The only reason I jump to this conclusion is because of the coolant loss.

bingo. i got it back saturday. dealer said it was the egr cooler and the egr valve was going bad so they replaced both all under warranty.

the only problem is, it looks like the previous owner had some sort a flash tune on it. apparently the dealer whipped that off and put it back to stock. it runs like a big ole stock turd now

head gaskets do not cause white smoke , i know this truck already been fixed but , a just for the record thing for other members , egr cooler is cause of white smoke or bad injector or even turbo, but with coolant loss , egr cooler in this case , if they didnt replace oil cooler you will probably be goin back before long
