truck misses and blows white smoke

95 PSD. 5 speed. starts misses then smooths out and idles. After idleing for a few seconds it stumbles and skips again and smooths back out. If you give it throttle it doesnt take it and skips yet again and stumbles and almost dies and blows tremendous amounts of white smoke. I have checked turbo it spins free and doesnt have any play. Also I pulled the valve covers and it doesnt have bent pushrods. Oil changed about 500 miles ago. PLEASE HELP QUICK!!!!

ya same problem here with the same truck. same year and everything. i was told i have atleast one injector stuck open. im new to diesels but im learning a bunch. i had 6 bad glow plugs and now im just waiting to find a place that can test my injectors.

get it to a local diesel repair shop and have them buzz test the injectors. good luck. let me know what you find

best to have a buzz test done. had this problem with my buddys 96 and it ended up being a melted valve cover harness

OK i replaced valve cover harness and gaskets. also engine harness. The truck runs great until it gets warm, not operating temperature just warm, like 100 or 125 degrees. it starts to skip, blow smoke, and will not rev up it acts just like it cuts fuel off. Fuel pressure is good. I took it to someone to look at vital signs on a computer. Any more ideas?

Check the HPO pressure when the complaint is present.

The shop says its the IDM. I am checking ebay. Ford wants 1000 bucks. Do all OBS IDM modules fit all OBS trucks? please help.

replaced the IDM and I have the same problem. It starts to cut off at idle and then catches up again. Please help me. It runs perfect until it gets warm.

replaced the IPR and the ICP and the IDM. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

Did you get it figured out yet?? Might sound way out there but, I fought the same issue with my 01. Did not go parts swap crazy. Fuel pressure was good, but would crap out, boost would drop of and run like @%$# after a few minutes of normal driving. I pulled the fuel tank pickup assembly (I only have one 95 gallon tank) and found that the pickup screen was 90% blocked off. Cleaned it and tank, fresh fuel and tested runs great. Just because you have fuel pressure doesn't mean you have volume is what I found out. Good luck!!
