noise comming from filter housing??

I have a 2003 f250 6.o and its been running good minus the hard starting sometimes. i was driving home from work and it started to loose power like it was running out of fuel. started shaking (maybe from lose of power) and the died. it turns over but wont start. there is a noise comming from the fuel filter housing on the motor. sounds like air leaking into or out of housing.
