engine light on 2002 Excursion
I own a 2002 excursion diesal 7.3L with 1300000 on it. I love my "beast" I was driving home from work and it was acting up. A little bumpy and jumpy. The engine light came on. I do not have a mechanic that I like for diesels. any ideas on what is wrong and where to take it to in the boise idaho area? Thank you -

With no modifications to the truck, did the check engine light go off after a while. Or did it stay on until you shut the truck off. When you started the truck back up did the check engine light stay lit.
Have you had the recall done for the Cam Position Sensor. If not I would start there. Besides that you need to pull the codes using an OBDII scanner. The scanner must be able to pull codes from OBDII exempt vehicles. I say this because although our trucks are equipped with the OBDII system. They are exempt because they are diesel. OBDII stands for On Board Diagnostic 2nd generation. This is used on 96-present vehicles. OBDI was used on 95 and prior years. Although some late 95 models will have OBDII on them.
