help , my 2000 f350 wouldnt start so i checked the batteries and they were low. both batt. were replaced in may2006 with a new altenator also. A friend who has been working on this truck with me has come to the conclusion that the terminals were dirty. no build up of gunk but we charged batt. s and cleaned all terminals and put all back together and she started fine. has anybody heard of the terminal looking clean but having enough resistance not to start truck or recharge batts

Had almost the exact same problem on my old chev 6.5 TD. Batterys were about 2 and a bit years old, and one day no start, looked good on the terminals, put the charger on them and they wouldn't take the charge. Called a local battery shop that had sold me the batteries originaly, and they told me to clean the terminals and try starting the truck again. did that and it fired up no problem. Called them back to find out why, he said he didn't know, but it wasn't an uncommon problem. Could be something the put on the terminals when new, and if not cleaned properly, causes a build up of something on them that blocks the power? who knows.-- but it would be interesting to find out.---Gord
