Hope it's OK to post IH DT444E problem here?
'99 IH DT444E Flatbed Tow Truck 3 months ago - rough running then no start - Changed CMP sensor per codes 1 month ago - rough running no start - Changed CMP sensor Again per codes plus mechanic advised CMP sensors are unreliable Just to Muddy the troubleshooting waters - pumped fuel from another truck into this truck so we could change a fuel tank on other truck. About 1 week after fuel transfer - on and off rough running started but evens out suddenly and goes for day or so no trouble - happened 3-4 times in last week - assumed we transferred dirty fuel. Changed fuel filter which did not look too bad. Cleaned fuel strainer which was pretty full of rusty looking grit. Now - rough running non stop - cleared codes - set 3 new codes immediately on test drive: 143 - Wrong number of CMP signal transmissions per cam revolution 124 - Injection control pressure signal out of range LOW 122 - Manifold absolute pressure signal is inactive Any thoughts? Reading through threads, I am suspecting Valve Cover Harness. Any further testing I can run to narrow down the problem? Thoughts on what else might be gunked up by gritty fuel? Need to get this truck up ASAP - I'm a 3 truck operation so 1/3rd of my "fleet" is down! ![]() Thanks, Teresa |
