Hey guys i am new to this forum but i have done some research and you all seem very informative so i thought i would throw this one at you. My truck had been running a little rough in the mornings when it was cold and white smoked a little untill warm. as i was driving it home it sputtered a couple times then smoothed out. it did this twice. i parked and plugged it in for the night and when i tried to start it in the morning it would crank but not start. I noticed that the clicking noise i usually hear when letting the glow plugs do there thing was no longer audible. (I have been told that this clicking is the injectors doing there self test?) The oil was changed about 1200 miles ago along with both fuel filters. the fuel tank is 3/4 full. i tried and tried to get it to start thinking that maybe the block heater had stoped working and that it would eventually fire. and subsequently drained the batteries. i recharged them and ran the codes. p1000, p0603, and p0611. I have been told the first two is nothing to worry about but P0611 may be the FICM. This may explain why i no longer hear the clicking sound of the injectors. I checked and even replaced the 10amp fuse under the hood hoping it was something simple but no luck. I guess i am asking if there is a way to check and confirm that i need a new FICM before i drop the $900.00 or if i should trouble shoot something else first. I am on a mega tight budget and with 165,000miles i am way out of waranty so any help is greatly appreciated!

try replacing the glow plug relay. whats the temp there??

now its in the low 70's during the day. if the truck is plugged in the temp gauge reads slightly above the line which leads me to believe it is warm enough to start. I could be wrong as i have been before... Whats the price on that relay? just another little tid bit. before this problem the truck never seemed to warm up to operating temperature i dont know if this is related but i thought i would throw it out there... Thanks for the help so far...

well i traced wires all day looking for any chafing with no luck. checked all relays and fuses and everything is as advertised. From what i have read on other threads im almost sure it is the FICM. i took it off and inspected al of the pins and everything looks normal. But i have also read that these symptoms may be due to the HPOP as well. You guys know of any diagnostics i can do to count that out? also i have seen threads about the wiring harness for the FICM being a recall item? Let me know if this is true... Thanks again for all the help...
