will injector failure lead to engine damage?

Hey everyone, I'm new here and hoping you experienced guys can impart some wisedom on me,

02 PSD, bone stock, 207K, regular oil changes...etc.

I've had a fair bit of water in the system, and a few fuel gel ups last winter in which I had to run the engine fuel starved just to get power steering to be towed.

Its running a bit rough now, seems to have a bit less power, and if you hold it at 2000RPM in neutral you can hear an audible (and feelable) POP every 10 secs or and engine loses a few hundred RPM.

My worry is that I messed up one (#8?), some, or all of my injectors. In time i can replace them but im worried running it with bad injectors might cause engine damage (overfuelling a cylinder=blown rings, etc)

Any thoughts,

Thanks guys!

Ian
