wont crank!!!

ok guys I was driving my truck home the other night and it died on me, fuel was low but nothing to worry about, i thought, well i got home and went to bed and the next day i got out and turned the key waited for start engine light to go off and turned the key this is what i observed, no cranking but heard a solinoide i think, well maybe not but i heard a click anyway. and also heard something under the driver side dash, battery is good, lights all good. keep in mind its still out of fuel but i figured it would still crank even if it was out of fuel. like a gas burner they crank even with no gas, is something other than lake of fuel wrong with my truck??? sorry to jump in here and ask about this before i get some fuel in her but im little worried

Click could be the starter solenoid on the pass side fender near the battery. They go bad after about 60 -70k. Could be the starter, give it a whack with a big hammer. They develop a bad spot before they give up the ghost. Check battery connections too.

i had to do that to my first truck back in high school but it usually started doing it slowly.
i turned the key 30 times and nothing. also the click i hear isnt like a starter sound its like a electrical noise rather than a mechanical

well what i hear sounds like its comming from the pass side fender but its not a clicking noise like any other vehicle i have had that had a starter go out on it
