2003 7.3 F350 cranking but won't start, throwing codes

So I have been working out of state & just got home last night. Truck hasn't been started since Monday. Went out to start it today. Started fine, backed up a couple feet & it died like the key was turned off.

Came back to it a few hours later with a new CPS & it cranked but didn't start at all. Installed the new CPS, but still the same. The wait to start light does come on.

Batteries are good. I can hear the fuel pump running. Comes back with basic codes 1316 and 1670 which I understand are IDM codes, but don't necessarily mean anything.

Murphy's law: Friday afternoon and the truck I would normally pull stuff with is stuck in the driveway. Short of calling a tow truck, I don't really have a way to get more in-depth codes--and I really am too early to call for that kinda help if you know what i mean...

Any advice would be welcome!

Checked the relays to IDM and all are good.
Just read back thru some other posts and see that I should start taking apart valve covers & check the wire harness....guess that's what I will be doing this tonight & tomorrow before I head back out of town since the wife's van is acting up too and she needs to have a backup as nothing seems to be fixing it even though I broke down and took it to the shop today---they are completely stumped on it.

This is where you really need a diagnostic tool that can do a buzz test are query the IDM for the codes it might generate afterwards (that's what the 1316 is trying to tell you, it simply means the IDM sees a problem and needs a buzz to further resolve codes and point you where to go next)

This could be a UVCH connector issue (thru the valve covers) BUT, this engine will actually start & run on 4clys so, the likely hood BOTH went at the same time is pretty slim. Chances are this is an IDM problem (although without a scanner it's just a WAG) and, without the proper tools, the next-best move would be to try and find someone you could swap with as a test (Any 7.3 IDM will do).

You know anyone nearby you could ask that of?

I do have a buddy with a 7.3. Is there any chance of killing his if I put it on mine?

None....

IDMs fail because of Water (mostly, their seals fail and because of where they're located they get rainwater in them ~ shake yours and see once you take it out ) and, like all electronics - Heat.
