2000 F-250 7.3 PSD SES Light, skipping no power
Hi,
I have a 2000 F-250 PSD the ses light came on and the truck started skipping. reduced power greatly. It went off after about 10 city miles and stayed off for 50 or so miles. when the light went off it ran normal. after those 50 miles it has came back on and stayed on. I went by a ford dealer and had the CPS recall done and it did not fix it. They plugged in and it gave a harness code from both sides. ( mechanic's explaination) as well as did a injector pop test. #6 is showing bad and it definately sounded different. I was 100 miles from home and moved my load to another truck and limped home with empty trailer. now is time to get it fixed. I need to make this repair quickly, but an injector is expensive. I'm not sure how if the wiring is showing bad that it can test an injector properly with a computer. He reccomended that I replace both injector harnesses as well as the valve cover gaskets. also replace #6. he said due to the price that I shouldn't mess with the others. He knew I was going to fix myself. I have had the valve covers off my other truck 1999 f350 PSD and it is not fun. what should I do. NAPA injector and and 1 side of the valve cover wiring is waiting for me at the store. They can be sent back with no problem. Should I use motorcraft. I also found $99 remans on ebay. Please HELP 911 |

no replies so i continued with my repair. I still do not have the 2nd set of valve cover gasket and harnesses
i replaced the #6 injector, took care not to let the oil hydrolock my engine and replaced the Injector wiring harness, valve cover gasket. the truck took a little time to start the first time, SES light is off and truck runs good. But it is very hard to start now. If it sits for 20 minutes it takes 8-10 seconds of spinning to start. it will then run fine. I still have to replace the driver's side harnesses, but they were not touched today. what happened?? |
