pcm reflash needed?

my pcm is fried on my truck and napa can get me one for it but they don't program them. One of my buddies said that you don't need to program them for these trucks. I have a 2000 6 spd can i get the non programed one from napa or do i gotta go to a dealer?

also if i found one out of the same year and manual tranny would it work?

well i ended up just having my buddy that works at the dealership order one for me. Its gonna be $400 flashed and ready to go.
