EBP sensor is likely bad. What engine/yr? 7.3L can have this problem as much as a 6.0L

EBP sensor = Exhaust Backpressure Sensor
sensor is located behind the idler pulley at the top, front of the engine in front of the high pressure oil reservoir. A 3 wire connector goes to it from the top down. If it's a circuit fault, the sensor may be bad or the wiring to the sensor may have chaffed on a bracket or bolt somewhere.
There's a tube that goes from the front of the RH exhaust manifold behind the accessory brackets and up to the sensor. It frequently plugs up with carbon as well.
