05', 6 liter, manual tranny, slow starter engagement now no start

So my plane old work truck had no trouble all winter starting and plowing the driveway then last week twice when I started it, it only engaged the starter after about 2 seconds of holding the key in the start position with the clutch to the floor, today when I tried to start it there is nothing, lots of battery power, all the ticking and noises I am used to hearing but the starter or solenoid does not engage at all, there is no click like you would hear with a dead battery, nothing happens at all, I tapped on the starter and solenoid while buddy turned the key, still nothing, any ideas would be great, BTW no performance mods at all.

a red neck would jump the starter solenoid and see if it spun

being careful not to run himself over with the manual trany in gear

but asides from connections /wiring /neutral safety switches/ignition switch your down to the starter or solenoid
