2001 7.3 turbo f350

Hey guys in new here but need help. 2001 F350 single wheel 7.3 turbo. will idle all day long but as soon you get in and go it will go for a half a mile and do fine. Then it will not rev past 2500 rpm and wont run faster than 40mph. pull over to the side of the road let it idle 15 min and it will do the same thing half a mile its good then just does the same thing. HELP thanks. Truck is 6 speed if that helps.
Thanks in advance!!

When's the last time you put a Fuel Filter in it?

What's the status of your CPS? If your '01 does NOT have a Trans Temp Gauge in the Cluster, make sure you see the Tach Needle rise a little bit while cranking to know it's working (if it Does have that gauge it won't anyway)

Is your tank above 1/4?

Have you ever done the "Hutch Mod"? (removing the screens in the tank that can clog)

If the wasetgate was closed, you would have low power, might limit revs, BUT you'd hear the restriction as an, unmissable, Hissing sound from the tailpipe (been described as that, LOUD, "Jet Engine Noise"). There isn't really a "Limp Mode" that would be applicable to that either...

You might have a Fuel Delivery problem. Are you "stuck"? If it won't start & run you can check for fuel in the Fuel Bowl easily though. Open the Hood, the round black cap in the front/center of the motor (5" around maybe) is the fuelbowl (filter housing). Look above the pass ft tire, you'll see a 3/8" metal tube, against the motor that ends there, it's the drain for the bowl (yellow lever you slide to the side). Get a cup, open the lever, drain the fuel bowl, look at the fuel, close the lever. Then, turn the key to the ON position (should hear the pump) for 15 secs. Drain the fuel bowl again, whaddya got?

Yes im stuck. Truck is not building boost at all. You can see it spinning so it's not locked up but no boost. Any idea

OK so, it Starts & Runs?
You just have No Power?
Idles smooth?
No "Jet Engine Roar"?

You're familiar with the Inter Cooler plumbing? There are 4 rubber connectors (2 Blue 2 Red) that connect those 3" hard pipes from the Turbo, down to the IC (on the drivers side) though the IC and out (on pass side) and up to the spider (intake plenum Y). If one of those has blown-off you would have trouble building boost. Look at them...

But the PO was familiar with this problem and had it diagnosed as a Wastegate issue? If so I'd think that ROAR would be obvious.

If you hold it at 2k rpm it will drop off and come back up repeatedly like a very slow bounce off the limiter if that makes since

I would try to pull the red tube of the waste gate and see what happens. If the solenoid make it stick open it won't build pressure. Just a thought. FYI It won't cause any damage either.
