white smoke and high temp at idle
I got an 07 6.0 harley davidson edition, and it has a banks chip in it (yes i know, i'll eventually upgrade to SCT). I was sitting in line to get food, and i noticed that the temperatures kept crawling, and they hit 230, and so i turned the truck off. well I started it back up when the car moved that was infront of me and it had gone to 226, then it started climbing again so i turned it off again. i finally get my food and going down the road and the degrees go down after a little while. Well later that night i drove the truck for about 25 minutes, then parked it for about 45, and when i went to start the truck, i looked back and had white smoke pooring out my stacks. Im guessing it would be the EGR cooler? any insite would be appreciated.

that sounds like an egr cooler. you might want to check for coolant loss and what the exhaust smells like. it also could be an egr valve. hope this helps

i smelt the exhaust, when it was blowing the white smoke. is it hard to replace egr cooler or valve?

The valve is easy just bolts, and a lot of pulling. I used a small crowbar. I think the new valves come with the two o-rings and gasket at the cost of $374.24 from the local Ford store. Cooler is a lot harder turbo and other components need to come off. Don't know the cost.
