1997 throwing a code, need guidance

my 1997 f350 is thowing p1211 and the truck is running like crap. ive got a driver pulling an empty car trailer back from ohio and he cant build boost over 2000 rpms. when he gets to that point the truck will just fall on its face. Ive had the codes cleared and its been throwing this same code now, and i dont know what i should start doing with it.

P1211-IPR ICP pressure above/below desired Continuous and KOER on-demand test IPR valve failed, stuck, or shorted to ground.

now there IS NOT a chip on this truck, so im guessing the hpop is going out, is there anything that i can do to trouble shoot this so that im not just replacing parts. thanks for any help guys

I was a school bus mechanic awhile I had over 260+ buses most all were dt's, t444e, or 7.3l units... I have seen this caused before with a bad injector pressure regulator... it's hard to tell you how to test it without a scan tool. on a scan tool it will show injector pressure on data stream... if you replace the hpop get a super duty unit it is a 17* vs. a stock 15*... it will help the truck wake up a lil bit I have seen them on here for around $350

p1211 can be caused by several things , bad ipr liked stated before, the most common is low oil pressure or bad oil quality , is maintenance up to par and oil full, low fuel pressure can also cause a p1211, i would think ipr more if it had a p1212 code , like i say p1211 is more common to be oil level or quality

hecj fuel pressure , should be at least 45 at idle to even start , and wil climb up to 100 under load , the under load part is what you want to be concerned with , if its not holding ,there may be a problem
