Angry 92 f250 7.3 wont start!

Ive been an auto mechanic for years and we got a 1992 f250 7.3 diesel for our new work truck and have had problems since. we have a charge problem and a no start problem. charging - alt bench test 13-15v and is fine, new regulator and still batt voltage. i found a diagram online and completely rewired it and still no charge. batts are 3mo old and clean still no charge.... Starting - im sure the glow plugs are shot but in sd its been 80+ everyday so itl crank like i have 10 batterys in it and run. then no matter what i do itl run for 5 sec then die ,if you have a 70amp charger on it it can fire back up and itl run fine. its acting like its being starved of fuel... but when it starts it runs great itl light em up and go so im getting very confused about it having enough fuel.... my friend wants it to start on fire for ins reasons but im sure this is a simple matter and if i had more exsp with dieselwe would love it. ps there is random elect tape on wires that some backyarder ran here and there and yea not sure how it ran perfect when we bought it but a week later of nothing and she wont run also the tach jumps around untill higher rpm? csps?
