![]() ![]() ![]() Ok I just got done changing out my #8 injector. Torqued everything down, put everything back together, and got it started up. Puffed a HUGE plume of blackish/grayish/whiteish smoke. Normal right? I let it idle and was checking around and I see oil dribbling down the exhaust uppipe onto the floor... My dad is supposed to use the truck in about 9 hours to haul a 5th wheel! I can pull an all nighter no problem, is there anything I can do? What have I done wrong? And HOW THE HECK does oil get to where it's dribbling out of??? I knew the gaskets were leaking EXHAUST but damn! It never did it before, so it had to be something I did...... right? Last edited by TurboSevenThree; 05-24-2008 at 09:30 PM. |

I did, from underneath too. Here's what I observed. The shake is different ... now it's steady... i hear what seems to be a knocking noise, sounds like in the #8 cylinder vicinity, it just sounds LOUD. The oil is flowing downward from the exhaust uppipe donut, only the driver's side one. It made a mess, it soaked the uppipe, got on the firewall a little, on the tranny and frame. It was dripping onto the ground about a drip every 3 seconds.

Can't see where the oil is coming from huh?

Dirk saved the day yet again
GOT IT! The oil was coming from the uppipe donut like i thought. I had an exhaust leak there, and when i changed the injector all the oil went into that cylinder, so it was pushing the oil out and NORMALLY it would just burn off but that exhaust leak was so bad it was pumping out of it before the oil could even get to the turbo. After letting it idle for 5 more minutes and driving it a mile it stopped leaking. Then driving it on the expressway for around 30 miles it completely burned off. It's all clean again.
Interesting problem though. DEFINATELY solidified the fact that i have a massive exhaust leak! Once it stopped oiling it was smoking under there. Gotta get that fixed asap. |
