URGENT OBS HELP!

Ok here's my story... last summer my 97 PSD had an issue starting, fixed it, now it's happening again!!! every once in a while it just wouldn't start. it would crank but not fire. checked all of the typical things, batteries etc... When cranking relay #4 (under the hood drivers side) would make a loud cranking noise. Also, i could tell when it wasn't going to start because the wait to start light would not come on. Also, when it wasn't going to start, the typical "dinging" that occurs when the glow plugs are warming up sounded distorted. It eventually starts but you have to wait awhile before it will. All of this is happening randomly again! Except, this time, when I can get it started the emergency brake and ABS light remains on when I'm driving, and when I go to start it and it won't start my overdrive light OFF is on. WHAT IS HAPPENING?? Last summer we tracked it back to the alternator and it ended up that one of the wires was wiggling loose.... checked them tonight when this happened and they're ok HELP

When you say you checked the batteries, does that include the cables? Making sure they have a tight connection? Can you take the alternator off and take it to a local auto parts store and have it tested?

alternator is brand new... batteries are great with clean connections and batteries are charging when running... i think i've narrowed it down to the icp (injection control pressure sensor) which is also called the injection pressure regulator. it's cranking great but just doesn't fire... this is so frustrating!

I'm thinking it may be the ignition switch. Usually when they go bad, the starter won't engage though. Worth a check.

when this happend a few weeks back, i took out my pcm and cleaned all the connections and put on that gel stuff (whatever it's called) LOL and haven't had a problem since... however, my emergency brake light and ABS light come on everytime i'm driving... like 15-20 minutes after it's warmed up, haven't yet figured that one out.

ok I had the same problem but i fixed mine last summer. I started by getting a new IDM from beans so it wasn't a waste if it didn't work, it didn't. Then I got new valve cover gaskets cause those stupid wires goin through em and that made a noticeable difference but still it did it every now and then (I changed the pigtails under the valve cover too). Then after spending all this money I replaced the whole injector glow plug wiring harness. I got it from ford and my price was around 200 and that was 35% off. but it worked, I still don't know what exactly fixed it but I think it was a little bit of everything. Any questions bout this shoot me a pm
