My F250 died on my wife the other day and would not restart.Had it towed home.Fuel filter bowl was empty. After cranking on engine bowl filled up 1/2 way.New fuel filter.Oil full.Is pump gone?Nearest shop is 20 miles away.Hate to pay to have it towed again.Any suggestions?Need truck for work.

I am by no means a tech but it sounds like a fuel pump to me. Your fuel bowl should be full to the top.

How much fuel on the gauge? If it is 1/4 or less it may have just pulled air into system. Fuel pump is not the strongest feature on the 7.3. Mine will suck air if going uphill (nose up) with 1/4 tank of fuel or less. I put an electric just in front of the fuel tanks and it helps.
