Alternator Fire

I was jumping another truck today when I smelled something burning then I seen the flames. The positive wire that hooks to the alternator fried. Anybody know what cause this or what to do about fix?

Alternator and batteries are both less than six months old..Alternator Fire-imageuploadedbyautoguide1367513546.936630.jpgAlternator Fire-imageuploadedbyautoguide1367513571.545858.jpg
