oil temp sending unit

ok did some testing on the truck with the computer and came up with a bad oil temp sending unit and and icm error. well im gonna try and put a new sending unit in and see were that gets me. but i dont know were to find the unit. anyone have any idea...

Not a clue but here's a bump for ya.

Look in one of the threads under repair help/information, it has a thread with all of the sensor locations. I believe that one is drivers aside aft of the Hpop. But they have picture that will make it clear.

On a 2001 it is on the back of the Hpop if you are looking down at the top of the hpop it is on the right side on the back of the pump. But that is the 2001 7.3L not sure if it is the same on your 1996. I'll see if I can find the picture again.
