Need Help Please

My 1997 7.3 was running great drove to a restaurant when I came out and started it things went crazy. The truck started but was shaking violently and had no power. I shut it off and restarted with the same results. It acts like it is misfiring. I made it home and pulled codes. P0603 and P0470. Someone told me the ebpv may be stuck closed when I extend the rod out of the sensor it pulls back in. Is this closed or open. I changed the cps just b/c I had a new one and hoping that may be the culprit but no help. any help would be greatly appreciated. Also the check engine light is on

BC Diesel

Sounds like it could be the IDM (Injector Drive Module)

BC Diesel IDM Reply

They can be hard to diagnose short of throwing another one in, my shop diagnostic is to install one of the known good used ones I keep around and if problem goes away, install a new one unit. They are prone to moisture, more so in the E'Series but seen lots in the F'Series.

Swamps Diesel makes a high frequency IDM unit for a great price.

Hope this helps
Dave

I don't know what kind of scanner you have, they're Not all capable of properly scanning our trucks, I would expect to see a P1316 because you could be running on only 1/2 the engine is what it sounds like from your description.

Have a look at this, Both the IDM and the UVCH could be the culprit if that's true...
