6.0 will not start unless plugged in

Fellas,

I need some help here. My 6.0 will not start unless it is plugged in at night. If plugged in, will start with no issues. If not plugged in (overnight low 65 degrees) it will cough black smoke and just turn. After 15-20 minutes of waiting for the glow plug light to go off and turning it over again and again, it will finally start, but contiune to cough black smoke until it reaches operating temp. I am fairly skilled both electrically and mechanically. Any help would be great due to the fact I'll be on a fishing trip all weekend and the truck will be parked with no ability to plug it in. I've been thinking stiction, or glow plugs, glow plug relay, or even FICM. Ideas? Thanks.

BTW: It is not popping any codes, and runs just fine once at operating temp.

glow plugs or the glow plug control module or glow plug harness, one of these things are you issue cylinders have to be warm for compression to ignite the fuel, and some scanners don't detect everything, I would stop by a ford dealership pay and have them scan it, and then fix it yourself, parts for these trucks aren't cheap,, hope this helps,, earley04 f350 crew cab long bed,,, completely new motor 03 turbo. 4 in turbo back straight pipe exhause, arp head studs egr delete, blue spring upgrade, k&n cold air intake, sct tuned

You need to test the FICM voltage while cranking. I'll bet it's dropping into the mid to low 20's.
