truck smoking

I have and 2000 f 250 7.3 the thing started smoking real bad the otherday from the tail pipe so bad I got a ticket for it. I don't know what has gone wrong I went ahead a bought a new turbo have not put it on yet but does it sound like this may be the problem I miss my truck need to get it fixed

Could be a bad turbo or a boost leak or other things as well. Have you scanned for any codes? Check your intercooler boots to make sure they are all tight. If the boots are all tight pull the intake off the turbo and check the compressor wheel for any movement should be little to non laterally and shouldnt be any in and out. Check the blades as well.

thanks I had put a new wild wheel in it about a year ago I will check the boots but I bought this turbo and it is a non ebpv can I use my stock intake with this turbo
