Not necessarily true. Mine ran with the cps going out the first time it failed.
Just absolutely no power.
start by draining the fuel filter to chk and see if you've got water. the fuel will have a cloudy look to it if so.

I work for a HWY Dept. our mech was good enough to run the diagnosic
could he have ran a 6.o program instead of 7.3 ?
he also said there was no fuel coming outa the schrader / pressure connector.
Could a fuel pressure regulator case a CEL to come on?
I'll get him to try again,,barly pops do wonders in rural areas

Just an update,,computer was down,,I was on vacation, blah blah blah

So having had the truck for a while I new to check the valve cover wiring harness injtrs/glwplgs,,well it all ohmed fine so after not figuring it all out,,and we never did get a code. off to our IH garage,,they didn't figure it out for 3 days!! finally decided it HAD to be the glwplg/inj harness,,took both valve covers off everything seemed fine right? nope ther was a short in such a way that it all still ohm'd out. But they did me right,,new fuel pump, wiring harness plus the tow ,about 10 miles, flatbeded,, 1000 even,,,so alll in all not bad but not the best.
would've rather done it my self. Still got it back a day before vacation.
And I'm getting around 20mpg with all my leaks fixed.
