7.3 Random miss/studder
Hello,
I have a 2000 f-250, 97K miles with the 7.3 and and auto with . Here is the situation I will be driving on the freeway at about 65 with the cruise set and all of the sudden it will start chugging ans the SES light will blink on and off a couple times. As soon as I give is a little throttle and let it come back down its fine. Any Ideas? I just picked the truck up so I have no idea when the last time the fuel filter, oil and other were changed. Thanks in advance Terry |

If you have the ses light you have codes.

SES light goes off when problem stops and stores no codes, even hooked scanner up to it while it was doing it and no codes.

What kind of scanner are you using? Most of the cheaper ones won't pick up codes on a diesel. Do you have a buddy that has a tuner as they will pick up most codes.

check the valve cover gaskets. they have the connectors for the injectors in the gasket. my tech said that the clips that hold the connector inside the valve cover with melt over time and cause it to fall out of the gasket. When my old truck did that, i looked at my egt and it only said like 90* and i had a buddy wiggle the connectors that got to the valve cover and it stopped running rough and egt came back up to around 190* just my .02
