fuel pump removal prob

Howdy All,
I am replacing a leaking fuel pump and my problem is this. I cannot get the old pump out!!!!! Having done this before, I took the fuel bowl out, the two bolts holding the fuel pump in place, and the banjo nut / bolt on the back side of the pump.
I don't want to break anything and I don't want to bang on it and cause the plunger to drop off of the bottom. Any ideas? Time's awasting!!!!
