CEL, makes it run better????

sorry if this is a repost. in a hurry to gets omewhere.... i got an 01 7.3 134,000. AFE stage 2, ts performance 6 pos tuner, turbo back exhaust. 38x15s. i just left work today and noticed my CEL was on. running fun, and when the check engine light decided to shut off it surged a little whili drove down the highway. came back on. when idling it was perfect with the light on. when the light would go off it would surge sometimes and sometimes die. starts right back up no probems... please help. doesnt make sense that it runs better with CEL on? recent oil change, fuel filter. drained bowl, fuel looks good, put in ful;l tank of fuel. i use additives in my fuel.....

try unplugging the ICP sensor

funny.. as you typed that.. i found that as an idea on google. i will try that along with a new cps in the morn

Doubt it's the cps but can't hurt.

yep, didnt fix it. but im sure it woulda been needed. so im still at a loss. it just doesnt make sense what it could be. it starts running perfect when the check engine light comes on??

i did unplug the icp... check engine stays on all the time.. but it no longer does what it was doing before. soo.. is that an obvious answer?
