Sounds like a bad UVCH wire or connector.

I'm not sure, do you have a Cali model truck with a glow plug controller instead of the GP relay?
Usually a bank code is a whole side of the motor. Not sure which side two is. UVCH is the under valve cover harness. Supplies power to the GPs and injectors. Bad connections at the valve cover or chaffed wiring on the pigtails outside the VC or under the VC could cause an issue. |

Code P 1396
Thanks. I believe it is a Calif. truck. My OBD 2 reader said glow plug monitor fault bank 2... Anybody else had this code/problem? What did you replace?
Thanks Dave |

Well a Cali truck has a GP control module, not a relay.

Is that the part that looks like a solenoid on the top right side of motor? Several wires going to it?

Google what they look like.
The GPR is just on the pass side of the motor, about midway back. There is one for the AIH and one for the GPs. GPCM replaces the solenoid with a rectangular box in that spot with a couple plugs to it. |
