Standpipes Stuck!

Hi,

I'm replacing the standpipes and dummy plugs on my 05'. During removal of the standpipes, on the top section came off (the standpipe split right above the oring).

How do I get the rest of the pipe out? Am I now destined to remove the rail?

Update: This is the "two-piece" type of standpipe found on the 2004 1/2 trucks.

Thanks!

Yes, mine had 2 pieces. One connected to the other. No big deal though. I think it is 9 bolts holding the rail on and you need a torque wrench to retorque the bolts. There is a special torque pattern. That is it, you did the hard part already.

What's the scoop with putting the new ones in?

My passenger's side whacks the heater box... driver's side is all back together.

I did the following to get it on:

wiggle the top half, it splits. Drop lower half in, pry heater box, and I pushed it in. Then I re-attached the top and threaded it in.
