Battery light on solid even after alt replaced

My battery light was intermittent yesterday. This morning on the way into the firehouse my radio went dead and spedo & tach went to zero, intermittent on/off the 30 minute ride in. My AC was on high, so I shut that off along with everything electrical. The batteries are less than a year old and tested fine. So I replaced the alternator. Now the battery light is on solid. I found a short in the 2 wire plug that connects to the alternator, repaired it but I must have blown something because the battery light is still on solid.

ANY ideas???
