Alternator I think

I had my family with me and drove about 45 miles in the 98 degree weather and my AC didnt seem to be working like it should. We were at the store from hell (Ikea) her idea not mine. We were on our way home and I stopped to get drinks and the battery light was. I replaced my alternator about 18 months ago. My batteries were replaced in January. I bought the rebulit alternator from Orielly so it has the lifetime replacement. Will the alternator malfunctioning cause the AC to work much less efficient. I am at the fire station for my shift today so truck is at home. When I got back in the driveway after our trip home, it cranked but very slowly.

Any insight is appreciated

Must be a FF problem. My battery light was intermittent yesterday. This morning on the way into the firehouse my radio went dead and spedo & tach went to zero, intermittent the 30 minute ride in. My AC was on high too. I replaced the alternator. Now the battery light is on solid. Found a short in the 2 wire plug that connects to the alternator. ANYONE know what I could have shorted out to keep the battery light on solid?
