Temp gauge

05 E350 6.0 temp gauge not reading and fan stays on constantly!! Help

hook it up to a scan tool see if the temp gauge says -40f, or if it says 220, -40 would mean sensor open, 220 would mean short to power if i remember correctly
if no scan tool, unplug sensor, hook it up to a digital volt/ohm meter and test resistance, OL/open means its bad, cold water/hot water should make the reading change. so unplug engine cold/hot if the sensor seems to be working, test the harness, youll need the pin outs, and youll be testing at the ECM, un plug the connector @the ecm, and check resistance from plug wire to plug wire, should be as close to zero (.01/.02 ohms) anything different and you have a harness issue
