wastegate or turbo
I've got a few questions on a problem that I have. I have a 2000 F350 that I use to move equipment when my loboy is not avaliable. It has a afe stage 2 airbox,a ts 6 stage chip and 5 inch exaust. I am pulling about 21000 lbs with a gooseneck my problem is when I get started up a hill or building boost i am gettimg a loud chirping sound.Ive been told that a wastegate actuator would fix this or a aftermarket spool in my turbo. Has anyone else had this problem? My truck has about 160,000mi on it and I use it heavily every day.any help or suggestions would be appreciated. almost forgot, great website.

sounds like compressor surge. most guys go with a whicked wheel and if thet dont fix it then you can got with the ported compresor housing from ats.
if you want to test the waste gate theory try disconecting the red line that actuates the wase gate and plug the line off. suposedly it keeps the waste gate from opening so you build more boost. Last edited by rankroddin250; 09-26-2007 at 03:46 PM. |

Could be turbo surge or "stall".
