Bought 95 powerstroke drove 10 miles and quit
Yesterday my girl and I picked up a 1995 F250, 2wd reg cab truck with 205K on it for $1200. It ran and drove great during the test run. Clutch was good. Then got on the highway and the speedometer became erratic, the truck shook pretty good (not sure if this is related but it'll need to get fixed too) and then I lost all power in 5th. Downshifted it to 4th and floored it. Nothing. Was able to get to an exit, pushed in the clutch and it died. I switcher tanks to see if the fuel pump went out. Same thing. No start. It almost wants too start, but doesn't.
I looked at the fuel filter to see if it's full of diesel and it was. So I was thinking the lifter pump possibly? Thanks for any help guys. I'm located between battle creek and Kalamazoo in Michigan. Anyone that can come out and help me get her runnin would get a case of beer, a handshake, and fuel costs will be covered Thanks again guys. This forum is probably the best one I'm part of! |

Sounds Like the Cam Position Sensor,
usually truck will Start but Die really Quick when it doesn't get a Signal. The eratic Speedometer Needle is what would lead me to look at that First. |

Okay.
I'm leaning toward bad diesel right now. Apparently the guy never used the rear tank and there was half a tank of diesel in it. I figured why not use that diesel. But I'll replace the sensor too, to see if that's it. Thanks |

Replaced the fuel filter and cam sensor, still no diesel. I'm going to need to charge the batteries before I can try to start again. The starter is getting weak due to all of battery capacity
