Fuel Leak at cap
2002 F250 with 212K
Ok, so i come out of church this morning and there is a puddle of fuel under the truck. probably about a 1/4 gallon. I get it home (i live 2 miles away) and pop the hood. The whole ?valley? is full of fuel and pretty much 80% of the stuff under the hood is wet from fuel. I couldn't tell for sure where it was coming from and i have had tons of problems with fuel filter gaskets and caps. (whole nother story) so i get the wifes car and run to oreilly's. I pick up a new wix filter and cap with all new gaskets. I get the fuel cleaned up and wipe everything down. I install the new filter and cap assembly and crank it up. I am getting a small but noticeable leak at the cap of the filter. I have the bevel side of the cap ring going down and i have taken it off and reinstalled it 5+ times. I always get just a little seeping as its running. I'm not sure where the huge amount of fuel came from but i am taking this one problem at a time. Is there anything else i can do to stop this leak!! Any tips or tricks i need to know? I need to drive this to work tommrow. |

i stretched out the gasket so it sits more on the outer section of the lid and it seems to be ok, i will check it when i get to work tommorow. total is 1/8th tank on the ground today.
