Top end knock

I have a 2001 f250 powerstoke with 213,000 miles that I bought when I got back from my deployment to the sandbox. A few weeks ago it started smoking at idle. I had ordered a turbo rebuild kit, but havent installed it yet. Yesterday I got off the freeway and the knock started, its sounds like it coming from the top center of the motor. The truck still has good oil pressure. I took the valve covers off and checked all the valves, rockers, and pushrods, they all look fine. I even started it with the valve covers off and there is no noticable lifter sticking. One question I had was with the valve covers off and the engine running how much oil should be coming out of the valve oilers (I dont know the technical term sorry)? Mine has just a trickle coming out, is that normal? Thanks.
