I have a 2000 F-350 PSD auto. I noticed an oil leak the other day so I degreased the engine and followed the oil leak detection post, and was successful at pinpointing the leak. It seems to be the back of the HPOP just below the sensor on the driver side. I noticed a part of a rubberized gasket hanging out. Is this system pressurized when the truck has been sitting for a few hrs? I want to remove the plug but dont want to loose alot of oil all over the now really clean intake manifold. What type of gasket or o-ring should be used? Is there anything better than factory, that I can get FAST. My truck is down and I dont want to risk the long drive with this loss of oil. Leaks pretty bad. I also want to make sure that this type of leak could be responsible for filling the valley full of oil and then run down the back of the engine. There seems to be some wet areas in some shaft coming out of the turbo pedestal area, however the pedestal its self isn't as wet as the intake. So I feel it is just this gasket on the HPOP.
Will I be safe just R&R the gasket, and to what torque is recommended? Thanks fo your help guys!! Frank |

Here's a procedure for replacing the O-rings. Common cause of oil leaks around the HPOP.

Thanks guys for your help. The bolt had actually backed off over a full turn and when under pressure would creat a good size leak. I pulled the plug out checked the o-ring and reinstalled. Everything is now dry and no more oil in my driveway. Thanks for the help and if anyone in the Nashville area let me know, will be moving there the 28th of June.
Thanks again Frank |
