6.0 no start....

I've got a 04 6.0 with 220k miles on it. I was having a problem with it being a hard start prior this. The situation is that I drove the truck to work Thursday morning of last week (that was about 8 am) I then come out to at 5 to head home, but all it did was crank. It would hit on a cylinder or two for a second. I did this until the batteries eventually died. The truck had a couple of issues while it was cold. (i.e. wouldn't rev and wanted to fall on it's face), but the would go away when it got up to operating temp. And I was told by a local Ford diesel tech that he thought I had injector problems, this was before this issue. Any help on which direction to go/investigate would be appreciated.
