WASTEGATE PROBLEM...PLEASE HELP

OK MEN HERE IT IS...Have a 96 ford f 250 7.3 it is now cold out and I am having a serious problem....Go out in the morning and start my truck,wastegate opens then closes,big swoosh of air comes out of tailpipe..Now...I leave for work and the wastegate opens and closes...opens and closes...Exhaust temp rises turbo boost pressure drops and then it starts the cycle all over again...What is causing this ....This is my ride to work everyday...Please Help

You do not have a wastegate on your truck. After the turbo is the EBPV (Exhaust backpressure valve) which closes in cold engine situations to labour the engine to assist in warm-up. You can search on here for "EBPV delete" if you want to remove it, since it does decrease winter fuel economy.

Thanks....I was told that it had a wastegate But was not sure....I just replaced the EBPV sensor today....Was told that was the problem $$$$$$$..Also if I unplug the sensor it runs fine...? Will that hurt it...Have not had a cold start up yet so we will see....
