I replaced the oil cooler on my 2000 7.3 powerstroke after putting it back together and filling it with water I noticed that there is water leaking out where the oil filter goes any ideas what would cause this keep in mind the truck never got hot when it broke not sure why the original cooler went out i just noticed oil in my water but there was no water in the oil

you might have just missed an internal "O" ring. i would remove it and inspect it.

I tried that and took the cooler to a dealer to make sure it was put together right and it was they did not have any ideas of course they offered to take it in and fix it but could not tell me what was wrong.

make a couple of metal plates and block off the holes in the block and pressure test the cooling system. pull the fill tube and listen for air.
