Help Terrible sounds??

Have this 03 7.3l powerstroke van that just started making these terrible noises. I posted a picture of the part where the noise is coming from. It kinda comes and goes and when this noise is going on that part is like viberating or something?? Any help as to what this might be or what could be wrong?? Or even what that part is?? Thanks so much

looks like a vacume pump

Thas the vacuum pump. It runs the brakes and the hvac controls. If it sounds as bad as you say it does its probably time to replace it.

Hey that must be what it is. because the brakes were acting up too. Thanks alot!! also how big of a job is that too change??
