NEED HELP FAST!!!!PLEASE

I HAVE A 2001 7.3 WITH 143000 MILES.I RECENTLY JUST STATING HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY TRUCK JUST SHUTTING OFF WHILE IM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD!IT LITERALLY JUST DIES AND EVERYTHING LOCKS UP. I HAVE DRAINED THE WATER OUT AND TOOK SOME PICS OF THE FILTER. BUT OTHER THAN SHUTTING OFF IT RUNS FINE.AFTER IT SHUTS OFF I PUT IT IN PARK AND IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP FINE AND I WILL DRIVE FOR A WHILE AND IT WILL DO IT AGAIN.COULD IT JUST BE MY FILTER?DO U THIK THE FILTER LOOKS BAD?IT ONLY THROWS A SERVICE LIGHT EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE AND EVEN WITH THE LIGHT ON IT ALWAYS PASSES ON THE READER.THIS IS WIERD AND DANGEROUS WHEN YOUR DRIVNG 65MPH AND IT SHUTS OFF IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC.THANKS AND I APPRECIATE THE QUICK HELP!

I would just replace the filter, they are so cheap just throw a new one in. And my guess for random dieing is cps. Good luck with the truck

Yep it sounds like the cam position sensor is going out. Next time it dies, try cranking it and see if the tach moves. If it doesn't move than its the cps for sure.

The moving tach thing is OBS only

Well thanks for stealing my thunder dave. J/K. I can't keep track of what is what anymore. Either way it sounds like the cps is his problem or at least a good place to start.

The filter is nasty and should be changed I agree. But your problem sounds like the CPS. If the truck hasnt been in for the recall. Drive it to the closest dealer and have them swap in the new one for free
